AUTO CAD I (Computer Aided Design)
Auto CAD Teacher Mr. Sims
Welcome to the AutoCAD website. Thanks for checking it out.
I’m sure you’ve read the description in the Cougar Classes handbook so I won’t go into all of that. The description might seem a little overwhelming but don’t worry about it; it will all make sense eventually. I wrote the description mostly for parents and administrators who wanted specifics.
The class is open to girls as well as guys. I would prefer you to have had, or be enrolled in Geometry but that isn’t a prerequisite. What you do need to have is a desire or interest in creating and/or drawing. This class will teach you how to “see” – to see almost all things in a different way. Even if you aren’t interested in a career in engineering or architectural design or interior decorating, the skills you learn will benefit you forever. Don’t take my word for it,
read what some of my current students have to say about the class:
We will spend time on 2-dimensional objects and drawings and then move on to 3-dimensional objects and end the class with learning the basics of drawing a house. I am very active in the class making sure that everyone understands everything 100%. We all help each other and we have a good time. So when the time comes, sign up for CAD with your counselor and I will see you in the fall.
Check out a sampling of some of the projects we’ve done.

TESTIMONIALS
“If you are a person that enjoys a challenge I suggest that Auto CAD is for you. I look forward to Auto CAD every day, because this class gives me a challenge which I enjoy. There is so much to do in this computer program that one hour just never is enough, if I could I would with no doubt have this class all day.” – Jonathan Almanza 2013
“AutoCAD is one of the coolest classes I have ever taken. You learn a lot about computers and how to make some really cool drawings. It definitely helps you become more creative and you will start to see how things work. I can’t look at anything without wondering “how would I draw that on CAD”. It is one of the classes that will actually challenge your brain and make you think. I like to think of CAD as a class that teaches you the skills you need to succeed in life, not just how to use a computer program. Once you learn how to use CAD you get in touch with a whole other world that you would never know existed without CAD. There are no other classes I would suggest over CAD. Mr. Sims is a really great teacher… and really helps you learn. Beaumont High School AutoCAD is the best computer class I have ever taken and most likely ever will take.” – Salvatore Baldi 2013
“C.A.D. (Computer-Aided Design) class is a ton of fun. The program has helped me see things very differently.” – Mike Burleson 2013
“CAD has really changed the way I see things and how I see how things are made and designed. Whenever I see an object, I think about how I could make it on Auto CAD and it has sort of become a hobby. Learning how to use the program has been really fun and I really loved the challenge of this program.” – Jason Calvert 2012
“When first joining CAD it was a bit confusing learning all the tools, but within a couple of weeks, my classmates and I were drawing new stuff as if it were nothing. It’s a really fun class and I would totally recommend it. Another great part of this class is the teacher, Mr. Sims is a really great teacher and can also teach you a few lessons you can sure use in life.” – Johnny Gonzales 2013
“Auto CAD is the funest [sic] class in my schedule. It has to be the best computer program I have ever used. It opens the door to so many career opportunities that I never had before. Mr. Sims makes the class fun, and interesting. The CAD class has made me see things differently than ever before. You can draw anything you think of and it is always a challenge and (also) a competition against your friends to see who can draw better. When you finally finish a project and it turns out good you get a feeling of accomplishment and you can get a taste of success. Auto CAD is by far the best class I have ever taken.” – Bob Gonzales 2013
“Auto CAD is a great class to take. This class gives you a whole new outlook on life. You start to notice shapes in all objects you see throughout the day. This class is surprisingly fun. You meet very cool people and a very cool teacher.” – Chris Gura 2013
“AutoCAD is the class I look forward to pretty much every day. This class taught me how design, dimension, and make many things on a computer. This class has inspired me what I’m going to do for my career later on in life. If anyone asked me about this class I would say it is my favorite class of all time so far in high school.” – Ruben Macias 2013
